Chose to do better job and be behind schedule instead of 1/2 doing it and it looking like junk. |
You should be able to drive the pins up from the bottom. Have the door supported and someone to hold it steady for you. Besure to replace the bronze bushings! Good luck! Mark

I have the doors off and have tried hammering to push them up from bottom of pin. they won't budge. I also got the bushings from GMCPaul with his Door Hinge Reapir Kit.

Most of the time we have to heat the hinges to get the pins to drive out. We remove the hinges and support them on a large vise, heat
them, and then drive the pins out. Jim |
Cut the hing at the joints with a hack saw. Then tap out the halfs after you soke them for a while in WD40. Still had to heat one with a Propane tourch.
The ones I got from GMC paul were to long and had to cut them. |
Yep, had to trim the pins to length. Tried to remove one with brute force and gave up. Fired up the torch and then it was easy.

do the pins have the bottom ends swelled out?? some of them are crimped from the factory to avoid comming out. You have to grind the tabs off in order to push the pins up, or just cut the pin with a die grinder, or torch or hacksaw.

I've got a good set of lower hinges. Free, plus shipping if you want them.

Are they new or have they been used before?
