did all 2wd jimmys and blazers have coils sprung suspensions ? i saw this rig on line and the rear is leaf so i was thinking this has to be a 4wd conversion. i think he is ready to deal what do you think its worth ? the motor has a spun bearing . it has no tach and a tilt column its a non ac cab the interior is rough no carpets , but looks to be rust free . its bagged all the way around

Re: lookin at a 2wd jimmy

The 2wd's came with trailing arms and coils.

I would buy a conversion in a second if it's not rusty and the price was right... Rust will drive up the time and $$$ you have to devote to a project.

Some people don't want a conversion, but they don't bother me a bit...

Most 2wd's aren't kept stock anyway and I wouldn't pay more for an original 2wd than I would a conversion. If you wanted a completely stock vehicle it would be a different story...

Good luck, Rg

I agree with raggedjim on factory 2wd vs converted. I would however, want to convert from leaf springs to either trailing arms or 4 link and bag it.

That rig has been for sale for some time now. If I remember right, there was a fair amount of issues with it for the price at the time. LUV may have been in contact wit the guy. I can tell you right now, that body looks wavy in that picture.

if the majority of gmc trucks came with leaf springs and coils as an option, how can you say the jimmy's didnt? do you have literature stating this? just curious as everyone said they never came with high humps either but mine is a 1 owner factory 2wd with a high hump lol..........

Yeppers, I almost bought it, I discussed it for weeks, the body is a lil on
the wavy side imho, and it is a 4wd conversion, at the time $9K was a lil
too high for me to spend 4 it, unless it's under $7500 I'd avoid it, my .02

*just reread the post, it was running when I was dealing on it, $5K max

Re: lookin at a 2wd jimmy

If I remember the pics right, $5k sounds high. You could buy a solid, running 4wd and convert it for less than that.

(by the way LUV, my daughter thought the dancing peppers on your signature were funny. She kept pointing at my screen telling me to look at the dancing pickles - she'll be four in January.)

I'm not sure, but that's not a Jimmy - at least not any more. Just pointing out the obvious.

No :whine:

It's been bagged, and it's not done, a few air leaks to figure out, still
need to mount the compressor, and wire up all of the switches, other
than that she is drivable, however the PO cut the rear snubbers try'n
to lay her out, and the frame is sitting ON the axle tube, ooooooops.
