Starter probs
 

The starter spins like mad but the gear does not come out to engage. What's wrong ?
Can it be fixed ot is a new starter required?
Tried rapping it with a hammer while spinning but no help. Thanks for any help

sounds like you need a new bendix. no need to replace the whole starter
