Lights Flicker - upgrade alternator?
My headlights flicker when driving and dim when idling, and I was wondering if an upgrade to the alternator is the fix? 69 C10 with what looks like good original wiring. I looked at the thread below about swaping to internal regulated alt, but was wondering if a one-wire alternator would be easier and work as well?

Re: Lights Flicker - upgrade alternator?
Before you do anything, I would do the "relay" mod on your headlights if you haven't already. There is a writeup about this in the FAQ section. Headlights will never be dim again, and it might fix your problem.
Otherwise, might wanna test your battery first. Then check your voltage regulator, then have the alternator tested. You can have the alternator and the battery tested free at your local auto parts chain store. |

flickering i'd clean and tighten contacts and most importantly clean and tighten ground wires

Re: Lights Flicker - upgrade alternator?
my daily driver was doing the same thing until i put on a later alternator with a built in regulator. we did it at work one morning when it was slow, only took a few minutes to wire it and i love the difference.
