Cool looking project!! If it isn't too late, might I make a suggestion. With the top chopped 3 inches, I would not have chopped the rear window opening, but rather just move it down 3 inches. This way the lower edge of the opening would be in line with the lower edge of the side windows...and you could reuse your rear glass and weatherstripping...plus it would look neat IMO if the window basically started where the top of the bed ended. Just a thought. But again, sweet project!

If i would have done the chop (PO did it) I would have done that. I have the stock window still, will i be able to have that cut or will i need to have a custom one made? Do you know how to cut the windshield right? Will the one peice winders work on this baby? This truck is more of a peice of S**t, cuz it was very hacked by the PO, so i am just puttin to getther as a FAST parts geter. it has a 600hp 65 vette 327 3000 stall th350 that is full manuel shift. will be getting a locked up 12 bolt with some gears. also might bag it cuz i have all of the stuff to do it laying around.

It was done by the PO. but its off of a buick. go to the junk yard and you will see it on one of the buicks. The member Rokcrln just did an FAQ on this hood hinge set up on a 72, but it could be easily done to yours with slight modification.

That's cool! In the mid-80s, my buddy had a '78 that was chopped 3" and was featured in Hot Rod magazine. That thing got more looks than any other car he ever owned, and he owned a bunch of *****in' cars. Have you got anybody lined up to cut the windshield? That will probably be the trickiest part of the build, as you'll probably bust a few before you get one finished. It happens to even the best guys all the time. There are books out there on chopping tops, and you may even have luck on Google. Some guys use a glass cutter and cut the glass on both sides of the glass (the windshield is 2 laminates of safety glass sandwiching a clear plastic center), and then fill the crack with lighter fluid and light it, melting the plastic while using smooth bill flat pliers and bending up and down. Most windshields have a curve in them, and you have to possibly make a few relief cuts so you're not trying to snap the glass in one of the curves. That's when it breaks because it binds up. Other guys try to eliminate this problem by using a stationary (bench top) upright wet belt sander and sanding the windshield down. It takes forever, and it'll take a few guys to help you hold the windshield while you run it over the belt sander. On the 1950s cars, most of them have wrap around windshields, and that's how guys were able to cut them down. Keep posting pictures, you've got a cool truck to start with. Just "un-rig" everything the PO did, and then you'll be able to go down the road with a clear head and a safe truck.

If you dont mind when you get a chance can you get some more detailed pics of the setup mainly hinge mounting and latch.......btw you've got one awesome ride there.
