Ok Blazer Guru's I need some advice
1 Attachment(s)
"Merlot" was bought to be a driver, and the 1st thing that I wil do is
finish the Air Ride, I could get a ART controller for the Air Ride to help with what I got now. I also think a Cowl hood would look really  on there instead oo stock. So what would you do if $5K dropped in your lap? Wheels and tires? or something else? It seems to run good now. I have a set of 17" Corvette Rally's still new in the boxes, use them? or sell them? I have always wanted 20's out back so these may go ;) *Pic's included (Most of you will probably say wheels, but what else?) :fb: http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m...DBLAZER017.jpg |

Get some paint on GQ!   No! Stop! please don't curse me! Well seriously those 17" wheels are paid for already, but on the flipside they are a very understated wheel. Most people probably wont even notice you're running a 17" since they are so similar to the 15" rallies everyone runs. Then you have to worry about the old center cap/beauty ring thieves that seem to be around every corner. It's hard to say where I would put 5K on that little ride. I think since it's a driver I would start putting some miles on it and see what it needs. Having the Airride work flawlessly is important to it being a reliable driver so it seems this might be a good place to start (after the mechanicals have been deemed roadworthy). |

Re: Ok Blazer Guru's I need some advice
Well it has all new front brakes, rears need work (I have everything already)
and the exhaust needs a major tune up :hm: (Rusty old pipes and turbos) Other than that she drives great, the few times I have been out in her ;) |
Re: Ok Blazer Guru's I need some advice
Get new 20's. The right wheels/tires can make the truck.
|
Re: Ok Blazer Guru's I need some advice
Don't be so greedy. Tell the rest of us where to sit so that 5K will "drop" in our laps . Sheeeeze some people! (lol)

Re: Ok Blazer Guru's I need some advice
if i had 5k extra? i'd install a manual 6 speed and a cable or mechanical clutch. gears make the vehicle in my opinion. dubs are too $$ and craigslist is full of good wheel deals. i like to leave the dubs for the guys in the escalades. a brand new custom fit exhaust system from the manifolds back should be around $500, exhaust leaks are way too embarrassing to put up with.

If it were my Jimmy, which it obviously isn't :D I would put 20" Torque Thrust II's on it.
When I was trying to decide it was between that and the corvette ralleys. I finally decided on the ralley's because there are a ton of old vehicles in town with TT II's. |

Personally, I like the understated, clean look the 'vette style rallies would give the BlaJim ( or whatever you want to call it:lol: ). It keeps people guessing what is different about it.
Then get your exhaust(to me this is a safety issue) and suspension buttoned up, the RidePro E seem like a heck of a nice set up. |
Re: Ok Blazer Guru's I need some advice
I would definately go with the wheels and then remove the rack? Spend a little dough on a buff and enjoy your ride.
|
Re: Ok Blazer Guru's I need some advice
20" Intro Twisted Vistas would be cool as well!!
and... Leave the rack. It's not like the top will be on much anyway. The rack gives it the surfer dude look. I couldn't pull that off, but you can ;) |

Re: Ok Blazer Guru's I need some advice
Well, you called me and got my opinion but I'll give it to you hear also.
1. Get Air Ride fixed 2. Get the right Exhaust system w/Flowmasters 3. Get the wheels YOU want. Post a pic of those wheels we were talking about. I'd like to see them. If you have any money left, which you should, get any of the mechanical quirks worked out. Like Asa said drive it and enjoy it, if you get all these things done you should be able to. |
Re: Ok Blazer Guru's I need some advice
Surfer rack stays, I put my heart & sole into the Billet Aluminum makeover
The Air Ride is being figured out, I have found a few of the leaks so far ;) As for the Wheels, Not a chance Bryan, I'll post them when I buy them :D |
Re: Ok Blazer Guru's I need some advice
I kinda figured that, but I had to try. :)
|
Re: Ok Blazer Guru's I need some advice
I love the look of the 17's and the rack!
|
Re: Ok Blazer Guru's I need some advice
for a daily driver i would go in this order till i was broke.
1 fix the air ride 2 get an overdrive 3 get an efi system 4 buy some 20's |
Re: Ok Blazer Guru's I need some advice
Overdrive as in 700r4? It's on the 2nd stage list, in other words after the 1st
batch of cash is gone, thanks for the ideas guys, all the help is appreciated ;) |
Re: Ok Blazer Guru's I need some advice
How's the engine? Run strong?
Tranny condition? My personal daily driver list: *Reliability/safety is #1 - Fun is #2 *Nice strong power plant *Definitely a sweet exhaust system *Fuel injection w/overdrive - O/D if you gotta pick only one, 6spd would certainly be cool too. *Air ride system must be dependable *Body issue's - any rust that needs attention? Paint good? *Dynamatt or similar sound deaden-er Is the interior finished? If not it's goes on the list too. Got a tilt column in it? Stereo? Seats? Carpet? ...etc. IMO, there's alot to do prior to adding the bling of a new set of wheels/tires, the old school rallies are timeless anyway. |
Re: Ok Blazer Guru's I need some advice
Get some 20's on it ! That will provide the motivation to do the rest...:)
|
Re: Ok Blazer Guru's I need some advice
Fuel Injection and O/D are high on my list for any daily driver. :)
|
Re: Ok Blazer Guru's I need some advice
Since you are planning on getting them eventually (I think you were) drop the money on the 20s now. In the looks department you will definately get the most bang for your buck with that purchase.
I forgot if you have an alarm  Make that a first purchase item also.. |
