"This truck has always been stored inside, and never been painted, or had any work done other than regular maintenance."

Wow, did they not put any emblems on the fenders these years?
Something don't look right to me.

Zumo 08-22-2002 03:50 PM

Hmmmm....that is strange.

ThreeQuarter 08-22-2002 03:58 PM

I don't buy it. (No pun intedned.) No badges, the paint inside the bed is faded, but not outside (see upper lip of front bed panel on bed pic), and I don't think small block V8s were available to GMC until after '67. Also, the grille should have red GMC letters on the grille, musta been repainted white.

stllookn 08-22-2002 08:17 PM

Very good observations...hmmmm...sumwon got sum 'splainin toooo dooooo!

Hooter 08-22-2002 08:51 PM

i can see BONDO on the right hand box side

Gee_Emm 08-23-2002 12:27 AM

The instrument panels, I think there was something on the board a little while ago about that. I just have never seen one done? The guage package doesnt look right on that, I would expect to see a idiot light package on that truck.

I didnt know that you could get the monochrome paint option for the door handles and gas cap in 67 either :P

Hooter 08-23-2002 04:42 AM

while i'll be go to hell!. I didnt notice before but the door handles are painted too!

For 67 GMC, 283 was standard V8 with 327 available as an option.

ThreeQuarter 08-23-2002 06:50 PM

Yep, you're right johnnyp. I was told that they only engines that came in '67 GMCs were V6s, but it I think what he meant to say was that the only pickups that came with V6s in '67 were GMCs. :)

Yeah, I saw the door handles but the pics were taken so far away I wasn't sure they weren't just refelcting sky. I think they look painted, too. Should someone email this guy (or eBay?) to point out this blatant misrepresentation?

C10 - C90 Bill 08-24-2002 06:49 PM

I'm not a '67 GMC expert, but I beleive there were no emblems on the outside of these trucks. But, it is true that there should be red GMC letters painted in the grille. Everything looks OK to me, except that the truck was definetly repainted.

toms68cst 08-25-2002 04:07 PM

I saw the twin to that truck today even right down to the painted white grill. Any GMC eperts know if this thing would be stock?

ThreeQuarter 08-25-2002 04:11 PM

Yeah, Tom, in '67 (and '68 I think, also) GMC made painted grilles and chrome grilles. All '67s should have red lettering on the grille either way. I like the white ones myself! :)

hjalbert 08-25-2002 06:19 PM

i worte em and asked him if the door ahndles were painted, he said they were not, they are chrome, it just doesnt show up

I agree the paint is not orignal but I have a 67 GMC that I am the second owner(Great uncle bought new) of and it had black lettering in the grille. As far as emblems goes in the literature they are non on plane jane models and this one on Customs(in picture). the interior looks great on this truck mine had same color and all I would say by the looks of the interior the milage is correct but it has had a repaint. My owners manual list these engines aviable for 67 GMC's :

230 L-6
250 L-6
292 L-6
305 V-6
351 V-6
283 V-8
327 V-8

I guess it comes down to whether you consider it OK to say it's "all-original" even though it has new paint. I wouldn't have said this truck is all original because when somebody asks about the paint, I'd have to say "Oh, well, yeah. All original except for the paint." And they would start to think "I wonder what else he's trying to pass off as original." Even though it's obvious it has new paint, I would've written something in the description so that it doesn't look like I might be trying to pass it off as original. Just MHO. :)

It's still a very nice truck, too. Oh yeah, I guess I've seen black lettering on the grilles, too! Doh! :p It appears I'm no expert, either, Bill!

Tim Christian 08-25-2002 06:48 PM

Hey gmcblu, I agree 100%. I was told once the red lettering deal was a Canda thing. Who knows?

But the whole thing is that in the auction it was listed as having never been painted

Pumkin Truck 08-25-2002 08:28 PM

You guys are so mean tearing up that guys truck and all, and thats why I find it so funny, guess if someone out there considering that truck finds this page he'll reconsider.:D

Gee_Emm 08-25-2002 10:34 PM

They should reconsider with that many possible inconsistencys. We are providing a critiqueing service here :p

ThreeQuarter 08-25-2002 11:08 PM

Golly, I'm just scatterbrained. I thought I remembered reading the "never been painted" phrase the first time, and before I posted the one above, I read it again and just didn't see it. So yeah, it's definitely misrepresented unless he's got one heckuva buffer! :)

Joe67 08-26-2002 07:09 AM

It still has the "and never been painted" in the description. I wouldn't touch that one unless it was a heck of a deal.
