Re: Doghouse for 86 Silverado

I've always used the term dog house to refer to the removable hump over trannys in trucks, buses, and vans.

Look around where Krue and I live and you'll see how it got the name. Fine shelters for those huntin' and watchdawgs. :D

I have always heard that called the clip. I guess its like the difference between a soda, soda pop, and soda water.

And you would be correct in doing so. This guy is talking about the front clip. Whiskey is correct in that it is the cover/hump over the engine or tranny in big trucks (cab-overs) or busses and vans.

Re: Doghouse for 86 Silverado

ive always heard it as a clip,,dog house goes over the tranny unless in a van then covers the motor to..but they do make good dog houses...and you got a great steal on it

Re: Doghouse for 86 Silverado

it's a regional thing. I grew up in Maine and the front clip was always refered to as the doghouse. In Illinois where I lived it was the front clip.

I've heard both of those, and my Dad calls those same pieces a telephone kit. I still haven't been able to figure out where that came from, but oh well.
