I have had my truck for about 7+ years and basically used it as a forum of transportation and have not really taken care of it. :crazy: In fact I had planned on selling it last month and was getting a 1999 2WD full size Blazer and at the last minute came to my senses. Anyways I have a question. The Blazer has a 2" lift in the front and 3" in the rear and want to lower it. I have 2-1/2" spindles and 2" springs for the front and a flip kit for the rear. Is the rear going to sit to low? compaired to the front? Will I have to notch the rear of the frame?

On my 75 Jimmy when I did the flip kit it bottomed out on the axle. I never did do the notch but I did put some helper bags in it just to make it ride a bit better. When I get back to working on that truck again soon I will probably raise it back up and redo it with a shackle and hanger kit. I do not want to cut the frame on that truck just yet for some reason haha. My 96 Yukon is also in dire need of a frame notch.....too many projects for me lol.

I had a flip on my 74 and it didnt bottom out on the frame. It wasnt far from it, but it wasnt sitting on it. I would recommend a notch though.

Pictures of my '81 with a flip kit. There is 2, maybe 3" of clearance on the axle.
The second picture shows how low it sits in the rear but there is no engine or tranny in it so the front will sit probably a few inches lower.

Check mine out Jesse on the Oct 2004 TOTM. I sold it in a weak moment. Need another one.

Anyway, I had 2.5 drop spindles and 2" drop coils. Had a 5" flip in back and it bottomed out on bad roads or bumps. Put a 5" C notch in and it rode really nice, no more bottoming. I also had drop shocks.

What are the options other than a flip kit? Im kinda new to the leaf rearend discussions. I think I heard shackles and blocks?

Shackles will give you 2". the only way you could use blocks is if you flip your springs. this is when you put the springs on the bottom of the axle.

On the back of mine I found that 92-94 blazer 4x4 spings will work on a 73-81 2wd blazer. I put the springs on the bottom of axle and it rides good. I have about 3.5" before it hits the frame, but air lift makes a air bag that works very good...

Nobody makes the drop hangers for the Blazer that I know of. I have been told that the hangers for the Trucks and the Blazers are totally different. I wamt to lower my Blazer but not enough to have to do a flip kit.

Off of a full size Blazer 92-94, the new body..

You can put 2" shackles on a k5 blazer, they fit both truck and blazer, it is a fits very close to you gas tank neck but it works. Have them on my blazer now with 92-94 blazer springs.
