It means you should only buy the truck if you plan on rebuilding the engine :) Seriously, anything can go bad...but I can't imagine how they know that's the problem...

YEAH, instead of the growly, rumpety, whirring noise that you normally hear, it sounds like a grindy, chunk, chunk, clunkety clunk, skkkkrawwwwwky noise. It is a sound that you will never forget.

oh well this truck runs good and it doesnt knock or anything like that or make any grinding noises.. so im guessing they are okay? he just said its a old motor and it may need new bearings soon and i need to keep oil in it...

How is the oil pressure when it warms up? Low oil pressure could be the reason they think it has bad bearings, ...or it could be that they have no idea what they are talking about and someone told them that.

you'd know if the crank bearings needed to be replaced soon...

That's my take :/ Basically, they're telling you that the engine isn't sound so that if you come back to them the day after buying the truck with a blown engine they can say "Hey, I told you so".

By the time you can hear a bearing clearance problem, the bearings are spun.

Re: Crank Bearings?

well i think i know why they said that.... when u first start it up u can hear a knockish/rattlish sound only for a few seconds when u first start it and then goes away. i let it warm up and i never heard it come back... they say its probably exhaust hitting somethin or lose but could be bad bearings, what do yall think? they dont know anything really....
