My 83 Stepside

Hey guys, heres my truck, I will be slowly fixing it up, body is fairily straight, mabye 2 dents, niether are serious, engine is running great, its a 350 crate with about 5k miles, no crome or anything special on it, YET :) Interior is pretty much junk, but thats my specialty, along with audio systems!
Anyway, heres the truck!

http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/7873/dscf01998nv.jpg

And for audio, I'm doing somthing extra special!

Now, what you are seeing there, is an 18" TC Sounds Custom built subwoofer, and a 4th order bandpass box going in the bed of the truck for a blowthrough. The rest of the system consists of one Memphis 4kw, it produces over 4000 watts at 1 ohm, a Diamond D3 400.4, it produces 50 watts per channel, and it is a 4 channel, and the components, Crystal SSCS6, a set of 6.5 kevlar coned speakers with Titanium tweeters and a set of crossovers.

Cool stepside, :but: you didn't leave room for a camshaft upgrade with all that SUB. When it's playing you definetly won't be able to hear the truck idle.:c2::aiiet:

Re: My 83 Stepside

Yeah just for the sound system I require a 300 amp alt, and at least 4 yellow tops.

If your gonna BUTCHER the 83 you should have bought a Ricer truck instead, have to agree with the Cobra, that's a nice looking stepside to be cutting up:crazy:

Re: My 83 Stepside

cut if you want but its gonna sound like dog snot, those trucks aren't really made for stereo comp stuff get a s10 and build a walk thru, my neighbor tried your idea with a nissan hardbody sounded like crap and he regretted doing it everyday as a matter of fact he took a piece of sheetmetal with some caulking and sheetmetal screws and tried to patch it up, but its your truck botch it up if you want

Re: My 83 Stepside

Diffrent strokes for diffrent folks I guess, I'm cutting a 14 by 16 hole out, not the whole back. Plus if cut correctly it can be welded back in. at this point I have more money put into audio than the truck itself anyway.

there was a truck running in the uk wish had a thick plexyglass rearwindow he used 4 big pipes comming up from a sealed box in the bed making a 45 degree turn and enter the cab trough the window behind the drivers and passengers head.
looked realy cool and he won a couple of sq ompetitions with it as whell he adapted the bedcover to alow the pipes to run through it

no need to cut the sheetmetal just make the middle piece of the slidewindow out of plexy and get a piece of sewage pipe painted bodycolour with a trumpet end on it peeking intoo the cab and you never have to style youre hair again

My system is also designed to be Sql, the subwoofer is specially built to be able to get down to the lowest of notes and also maintain excellent Sq, the only downside is the space it requires.

I did think about that as an option, but it just is too conspicuous for around here, I'm afraid it would be noticed and get stolen in no time.

Well, today I got all the bolts holding the bed on out, smashed a few fingers and broke a few planks in the process, but its done. Tomorrow I'll have pis of the bed off.
