Exhaust on blazer vs truck!!!!! Help!!!!
 

I going to have to run the exhaust next week and I keep figuring how to cut the holes in the cross member but there doesn't look like there is much room to run the pipe after it goes through the crossmember to clear the frame and trailing arms. I went outside and looked under my brothers 72 SWB and I can see this mod working a little better on a truck becasue the crossmember is a lot futher back on the frame and you would have alot more room to work with installing the mufflers on a truck. Does anyone have pics of this mod done on a blazer with the exhaust run. I have some vaccum cleaner tips that I want to run out in front of the tires , so I don't want to go out the back.

On a bagged / lowered blazer tailpipes will be very, very tuff to do, I had
to cut mine off, even though it was 2" and was going to go anyways, due
to the fact the pipes got jammed when she was layed out, turndowns? or
maybe turnouts? like I did GQ, no idea what your going to do, good luck ;)

I feel your pain... there just is not much room to work with under there. I've thought about a few solutions.

1- Run the pipe outside the framerail from just behind the a-arms, straight back between the rocker box and framerail, muffler just behind 'cab' and dump out in front of rear tires. Downside is the pipes will be visible in the wheelwell. Black high temp paint will hide them pretty well though, I think.

2- Run them inside the rails, above the trans x-member, mufflers, and through the t-arm member. I, like you, don't see enough room to get them outside the rails there, so I figure they will have to dump before the axle. Downside is lots of drone with the top on.

Here's an idea. I know it's on a T-bird, but I think it looks killer on most vehicles myself. I think you could also go to Art morrison for some other ideas.

Maybe use a 3" electrical conduit for the tube section & weld in a plate to box the frame 12" on either side of the hole.

Just a thought. If you do wind up doing this, I'd recommend lots of pictures & a little write-up.

At this point I don't know what I am going to do but whatever I come up with I will let you all know. I figured some has done this to a blazer and would post some pics.

I don't see cutting the crossmember and running it that way without a lot of modification. I noticed the trans shifter would have to be moved and all my rubber gas lines run down the side of the frame also. I think I will run mine under the cross member but have them flatten the pipe some where it goes under the crossmembers like they ls1 camaros come from the factory with. Shouldn't that work if you flatten out the pipe some?
