I need some info....

Hello,
I have searched the site for 1975 shortbox 6cyl 3speed to TH350 swap. I have only found info about pre 73 swaps. I am keeping the 6cyl BTW

I need to know these things:

1. Do I need to change the starter and flywheel?

2. I have the TH350 that is 27.5" long, anyone know if I need to change the driveline?

3. I have the auto/tilt column already.

4. is there anything I have overlooked?

thank you
Mike:c2:

Re: I need some info....

:welcome2: I lived in Yakima for a while. That place sure has changed since I was there...moved out in 87.

Going from a manual to an automatic, you have to change the flywheel over to a flexplate. I think you will have to change the starter too, something about the way they bolt on is different but I'm not really sure on that. When I did a conversion on my diesel burb (auto to manual) I had to change starters, not because of the way they bolted on, but because of the difference in thickness of the flywheel and flexplate.

I'm not sure on the lenght of the transmission, probably would be best to go out and measure what's in the truck and compare. One thing you might have a problem with is the output of the transmission. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but the TH-350 you have may be set up for a slip yoke and the 3 speed isn't. Hope this helps.

Hi rcbildr,
Thank you for the information! Yakima sure has changed, I grew up here in the valley. Hope to chat in the future.

Hey, does your six cyl have power steering? I'm having trouble finding the power steering brackets for my 73, thanks

Hi Tyjoja,
No my truck does not have power steering, sorry. If it did, I would have been happy to snap some pics though.
