glove box door code questions

1 Attachment(s)
Looking for a little help. Below is a picture of my glovebox option tag on a truck I just picked up. I am sure there have been tons of people asking about how to decode the glove box door codes. I can track down most of the codes, but there are a couple I have questions on.

Any ideas for the following three codes?:

1D73
1F44
1ZQ2

Also there are 2 codes listed that have the same description? 1TCD and 1ZCD both have LR78-15C HWY STEEL?? Is it just cut short?

Thanks
B

Re: glove box door code questions

you also have 1xcd, I think those maybe tires?? hwy steel(belted?)

you might also check www.73-87.com

I will take a guess at them though.. just for giggles. Though it would help knowing what type of truck it is.. I realize the VIN is there but dont have time to decipher it.

1D73: Pickup box side rail= possibly the rails that run the length of the bed ontop of each side..??

1F44: Heavy Duty Chassis E(equipement??) =possiblity a group of add on that include the heavy duty shocks and sway bar??

1ZQ2: Operate Convience package= Tilt, cruise, AC, tint .....

Bulky:

To supplement Jon’s response to your question:

The original tires on your truck (which were sized in the alpha-numeric method of measurement in the ‘70’s) were LR78-15C passenger highway steel belted radials with whitewall striping. A similar tire in today’s p-metric sizing would likely be a 235/75 R15. The “xcd” coding refers to the optional application of these tires to the front wheels. The “ycd” coding refers to the same application to the rear wheels, and the “zcd” coding refers to the same application to the spare.

These tires carried a weight rating of over 1,900 pounds and, when combined with the heavy duty springs and brakes of the F44 heavy duty chassis package, would give your truck the maximum ½ ton GVWR rating of 6,200 pounds.

The ZQ2 Operating Convenience package you noted consists of power windows and door locks.

Your truck also has the interesting and somewhat rare C92 combination dome and cargo lamp option. This feature consisted of an interior dome lamp which could be swung down to illuminate the cargo box through the rear window. It appeared on the option listing for these trucks for only a few years, as most customers opted for the alternative exterior-mounted cargo lamp, designated option code UF2.

You appear to have a very nicely optioned pickup there!

I don't think they would. Just does not make sence for Gm to bother. I am still drooling over your truck. It sits pretty high up for a 2wd. Really nice!

I would expext Ford to do individual codes for each wheel...and probably one for each lug nut....

Thanks for the compliment. I actually havent even had more than 30 minutes with the truck....Picked it up last night and It's sitting down at my buddy's shop till I can bring it home (not enough time in the day. I think I feel a sick day coming on.

As for sitting high, it looks like it has a body lift to clear the 33 x 12.5 on it. Only part that about the lift I'm not crazy about is where the filler panel sits above the front bumper.

Actually, they did allow buyers to have different tread types for the different axles (like allowing mud and snow tires on the rear axle only and highway tread on the front -- hence the allowance for different axle and spare codes on the option sheet). Also, buyers might select heavier load range tires on the back vs the front (particularly on the 3/4 and 1 ton models).

OK Ken, that was news to me...wow. :) Do you have a picture of this option? I would love to see it if you do.

Or Bulky, can you get a pic next time you are with your truck?

Thanks.

No problem on the photo request. I'll be bringing it home this weekend, and plan to grab some more detailed photos all around.

Before I bring it home, I need to go out in the back lot and dig up a fender and some doors (my buddy's shop is attached to his dad's junkyard).

I'll also take some pictures of what he has in the back lot there are 2 or 3 dozen chevy trucks 70's, 80's, 90's. If anyone is looking for parts, I can give you their number (and put in a good word).

BigBlock73...picture as requested:
Chrome is a little worn away. But the light is pretty cool, it will fold all the way down and touch the window. As a bonus...it acutally works.
