Took the 6.0 K/5 to the dyno today
The curiosity has been getting to me so I had to take my K/5 to the dyno today after work. The dyno was a Mustang dyno and the mods are in my sig. The pulls were made in 3rd gear because I didn't want to spin the 35" tires to 130mph. All things considered with my heavy duty drivetrain and big tires I'm happy with the results which were a max of 428 hp and 445 ft lbs. Here is the graph:

I'd be happy with that as well. I'm jealous!

Re: Took the 6.0 K/5 to the dyno today
I'm assuming those are rwhp numbers right? That's nuts to say the least.

Re: Took the 6.0 K/5 to the dyno today
That's an assload of power to be putting to the wheel! Very Impressive!

Yes it is RWHP

Re: Took the 6.0 K/5 to the dyno today
Nothing wrong with those numbers!

Re: Took the 6.0 K/5 to the dyno today
COOL! What was the price for the runs, if you don't mind me asking...

Re: Took the 6.0 K/5 to the dyno today
They charged me $80.93 with tax and that included monitoring the A/F ratio, I could've saved $10.00 there. They actually let me make 5 runs but only recorded the 3.

Re: Took the 6.0 K/5 to the dyno today
That is awesome. I could only get 250 to the rear wheels on mine with 38 inch swampers

Awsome numbers..

Re: Took the 6.0 K/5 to the dyno today
:jdp: I could live with that :jdp:

What tranny? Which SW headers are you running? I plan on a LSx in my truck and I am trying to become a delaer for them.

As one might say here in VT, WICKED!
And I thought my injected 383 was gonna be fun but you got the #'s, nice build! How's it run driving the roads and wheeling? Stay nice and cool? What about crawling around on the trails? Any bad traits? |

I'm using the NV4500 5speed and the headers are for a LS1 69 camaro with a Wayne Due frame. The headers actually come down about 3 1/2" lower than I would like so I had to offset my exhaust back up to miss the output from the transfer case and that was after I cut 4 1/2" off of them and rewelded it back on. When I first started doing research I considered doing the same swap you did because I had a 383 but I read the same stuff you did about it not being enough induction. I was glad to read you're pleased with it.:metal: Driving mine around is a pleasure, I have almost 7000 miles on it since October and it's made 2, 2000+ miles trips to MT. I've got several hundred miles on snow and frozen roads without any problems and have beaten several Camaros and Mustangs @ the stoplights. It's basically a stock 6.0 with a VERY mild cam (can't even hear it at idle) with some parts that really make it flow good air. Most of the time driving you don't even know the blower is there, but when you need it, it's time to hold on. Did I mention that if I can keep it under 60mph hour I can get 15mpg?? No issues at all driving it on the trails, works great in low range and granny low. Temperature wise it's never gotten out of the normal range but I haven't been able to try it in the summer yet but I don't expect anything different. All and all I'm very pleased with the swap so far even though there are a few things I would've done different knowing what I know now I'm still happy. Bill |
Re: Took the 6.0 K/5 to the dyno today
Still love the video of you in the snow, Im sure it sounded way cool on the dyno at those higher RPM,s. I bet you dont get 16 MPG when you are playin.
