new truck - how tough are inner rockers?
 

Hey guys. After a rough couple of days with my new truck, I am starting to rethink my plan. Basically I have two 87 V20s, but one is a GMC (the new one) and the other has older (better) axles, a dana 44 front and a 10 1/2 inch ring gear 14 bolt. I am assuming the 87 with the stock axles should have a 10 bolt. It's a GMC V2500 3/4 ton 4x4. Should that truck have a 203 transfer case? Anyhow, I have spring lift in the Chevy, which has been my project truck for two years now. And I have a nice frame I scuffed up and painted, with a new set of brakelines I have yet to install, a new tank on the passenger side, etc. Though the Chevy has a better cab, I think it would make sense to finish my frame, put the new brakelines on, convert that to a single tank (to keep it cheap and reliable), and switch my new truck to that frame in the spring/summer. It's running and driving now, but I want to fix everything that is broken. How hard is it to weld in inner rockers? I have one, and I just got a new Lincoln MIG welder, but don't know how to use it. Obviously I need to practice first, but I have heard it's relatively easy. Then, I could sell the extra parts to help pay for everything, and end up with a decent truck that should last me a while, for not too much money. Any ideas? I am thinking of selling my Fisher plow setup and TBI 350, cab and bed to clean up the yard and get some money coming in for a change. Thanks for your help guys!!
