how much will you spend?
Just courious how much money you are planning to have in your 67-72 or how much you have in it if it is finished already. How much $ is to much for these trucks?

Re: how much will you spend?
These trucks are like raising children. We never anticipate the cost of raising our children. If we looked at the potential cost of raising children we would never start a family. The same applies with most of our trucks. We buy them because they represent America and it’s our chance to restore a part of America past. These trucks become part of our extended family. It’s a love affair that that just keeps on growing. :fb:

I agree.

Re: how much will you spend?
The truck I'm currently doing hopefully not more than 6k plus purchase cost, going to be giving to my dad when he moves out of the snow belt. The one I plan for myself after... well lets just go with the family comment above.

Re: how much will you spend?
I dont think i can put a $$$ sign on it yet. All i know is that i am picky and i tend to change things over and over till i like it.
So with that said ..... probably alot. |
Re: how much will you spend?
Paid 3800 for truck in 90.
7000+/- in motor (not including machining and labor....traded that out) 1200 for tranny 2500+/- in regular resto parts 450 freshen posi rear end 1500 +/- paint and body materials 900 Vintage Air + who knows how much in nickel and dime items! Still need 2000 +/- wheels and tires 800 +/- upholstery I'm doing or have done everything except build the short-block and stitch the front seat. Can't imagine what it would cost to just drop this thing off somewhere and pay someone else to do it!!! |
Re: how much will you spend?
I plan on pulling in just shy of $10,000 Canadian in mine, but I bought everything, seriously, I hardly used any of the original truck  . I am doing all the work myself as well.

Re: how much will you spend?
Because of my geographic location and the fact that I like swb's, I am sure building one will cost around $20,000 CAD. Those cross border trips, even to the northern states add up quickly.

Re: how much will you spend?
As I read through most of the comments on this thread, I'm sitting here nodding my head agreeing with everyone. It is truly an addiction for most of us. Well, maybe its an obsession. No, it's an outright sickness and the only way to cure it is to spend whatever it takes to build the truck that you have your heart set on.
I'm building what some would consider a decent quality show truck that will end up as my dry weather daily driver. It is no where near the quality of some members' trucks but it should be pretty nice by the time I've spent $50,000 Canadian (that's $437.50 for the Americans on the site  ). |
Re: how much will you spend?
I've probably got around 13k not including my time. Like everyone says, it's a hobby, and I couldn't picture me not having it. If I did sell it or god forbid it got stolen or something I would have another one, or some sort of classic hot rod. I don't have children so it's like my child. At least I don't have to worry about my truck getting into drugs or getting thrown in jail. ;)

Re: how much will you spend?
Been working on my longhorn now for 4 years and have about 16k in it. Should be done this summer and still have a couple more grand to put into it.

Re: how much will you spend?
I never plan the money,I plan what I want in the end. That`s also when I find out how much it costs, when I`m done.

Re: how much will you spend?
I don't have one yet, but I'm planning on putting 20000.00 in mine and selling it on Ebay for 50000.00....;)

Re: how much will you spend?
My c5 blazer I have right now is at 18,000.00 and in pieces and I expect around another 10-15k to finish it, the c10 swb cheyenne has about 3500.00 in it and i expect to spend about another 8-10k just to make it a nice driver and trying my best to keep it low buck and doing all of the paint and bodywork myself.

Re: how much will you spend?
6K and it's basically done. I just need to pony up for a vintage air kit in a few months!
