seat belt's

sounds like there may be a difference in seat belt retractor mounts on say my 79 versus an 85.anybody know if there interchangable.i searched and read thru some past post's,but nothing real clear. 73-77 work togther?,then 78,79 are different from those and the eighties?:confused:
