New Guy, Intro

Hello, I decided it was time to introduce myself. My names Kurt, and i just bought a 1970 Chevy Longbed a few weeks ago. This is my second 67-72 Chevy truck, I had a 71 about 7 years ago that i sold for around $1000 completly rust free, straight body and good running motor. I almost cry everytime i think back about it and selling it for $1000. I just have to forget that truck and stay focused on my new one. I got this one for $600http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...ton/truck1.jpg

Heres the truck with a new hood, wheels and tires. I got rust free perfect hood from a guy for $30

Why would anyone do this? They look almost factory, must have been pro installed?

If anyone knows the easiest way to get rid of these tiedown hooks let me know. I figued pull them out, hammer in around the hole, weld in sheet metal and bondo.

Welcome to the board. Looks like a good start. I think your pics were copied as a link. There should be a faq thread about that somewhere. What I do is click on the IMG link below your pic and it will auto copy, then just paste on thread. I think you clicked on URL link. Hope that helps.

Hooray -- another '70 for me to get inspired by. :) That truck looks great -- it's worth $600 just for the grill alone.

Welcome from Central Pa. If I cried every time I thought about a vehical I sold I would dehydrate, so I just sulk. Nice project there. As for the tarp plugs well I don't know what I was gonna say other than....hmmm.....I don't know.

I dont know why someone would put those tie downs there either. You are correct, the best way would be to weld new metal in, the rest of the bed looks to be in good shape. Thanks for the pics! Hope to see more as your project progresses!
