Re: Power Steering Gearbox Rebuild?can I Do It?
No idea on a box rebuild, I just swapped out my manual box for a tight power one and it made a difference in slop, but not wheel shake. My box had about 5" of play at the steering wheel. I would suspect wheel bearings, axle ball joints, and tie-rod/draglink ends. If your truck is still rolling around on the original balljoints then they might be worn out. The open-knuckle 44 on mine cost me ~ $90 to do all 4 ball joints.

I think most folks just swap out for a reconditioned box. I did on my 72 and no leaks so far.
