Thinkin about selling my 73 Blazer...
Got this last May. Haven't had the funds to work on it - and don't see it in the budget for quite a awhile. I start it every couple weeks - runs and sounds great (H Pipe and duals give it sweet tone!). All I've really done to it is the grille, later model hi back front buckets and a Grant steering wheel.
I've always wanted one of these, and could use it if it was cleaned up a bit ( wife won't get in it any vehicle that's not newer looking.) But, I have other time robbing hobbies, home, family & financial commitments before I can get to the Blazer. You guys need to talk me out of it, or convince me I can sell it for a profit... http://f3.yahoofs.com/users/429e6124...wtB_FBlc.OTlhV http://f3.yahoofs.com/users/429e6124...wtB_FBn.qpskZP http://f3.yahoofs.com/users/429e6124...wtB_FBaUiZlZz. Has 4 inch lift and 35" Mud T/A's. AS well as 4 275/70r15's and 1986 factory rally spare. http://f3.yahoofs.com/users/429e6124...wtB_FB6_M6sOiT - Dave ps: I hate needing to do this . . . |

I say keep it or if you must sell it then sell it. Its up to you, if you really need the cash then sell it if not you will probably regret it.

Find a place to stuff it away until you can work on it. I'm on a tight budget too and the wifey can't stand getting into it. Plus she's not into the K5 looking ratty. Here's what she knows, I love that stupid thing and have a lot of blood and sweat into it. She won't ask me to get rid of it. She has a lot of say on the finances and I have to work my budget around it, but we make it work.
Look at it this way, 73-75 Full Convertible K5's dont grow on trees and get harder to come by every year. Letting go of one now in hopes to find one later might be hard to replace let alone what the cost would be then also. |
Re: Thinkin about selling my 73 Blazer...
I would definately hang on to it unless you are in need of the money. I have toyed with the idea of selling mine too but where else could I find a vehicle that is this good off road and has as many parts available to fix it for cheap. Plus it is 100% mine, makes sense to hold onto it. good luck it's always a hard call to make.....

Re: Thinkin about selling my 73 Blazer...
Zoomad & Monypit - That's how I feel about it. I got it for $500 and figure with my son going into bodywork after high school and about $2500-$5000 spread over time. I could have a nice 73 convertible 4x4, that'll tow the boat, camp trailer and horse trailer, too!!
I'll keep her.. Now, Anyone know where I can get a 73 factory roll bar? And $5000?? - Dave |
Re: Thinkin about selling my 73 Blazer...
Good choice. Just do a little bit at a time. I look back at mine and even though I'm on a tight budget I've managed to do a lot to it all ready. I've got a lot of little mini projects lined up to do between the big stuff that keep the interest up and progress moving along.
When you find the guy giving 5,000 bucks send him my way. |
Re: Thinkin about selling my 73 Blazer...
Can't really help with the $5k but Smittybuilt still makes the roll bar. I found it ar LMC truck and looked at smittybuilts website....Good luck

Re: Thinkin about selling my 73 Blazer...
The factory rollbar isn't really all that great. On the last '75 I had, we got a kit from 4 wheel parts to make it into a cage. I bet they have a roll bar there too.
I think if you sold the Blazer, you would regret it. I have a strange affliction for the things myself. 73-75 are my favorites. |
