Interior cab noise level-those that have shaved truck body including drip rails...
Those that have shaved their trucks and especially the drip rail, did it make a significant difference in terms of reducing outside wind noise into the cab?
Those that have soundproofed their interiors in addition, can you make any comparisons to a new car in terms of exterior noise? |
Re: Interior cab noise level-those that have shaved truck body including drip rails...
Can't help w/Q1, but regarding Q2, I should be able to let you know in a month or so. I'm adding 100 sq feet of sound deadner now and hope to be done with the interior upgrade and back on the road in a month or so. My "expectations" today are that it'll be 100% better than it was, but will still end up being noisier overall than my 95 Olds daily driver is today. Partly because of things like the drip rail and window "awnings", and partly because noise reduction was never "designed in" like is in more modern cars.

As far as interior noise...I have ridden in Lemields truck that has one piece windows and that right there made a big difference. My truck has DynaMatExtreme wall to wall plus one piece windows...should be as good as it gets in these old trucks.

Re: Interior cab noise level-those that have shaved truck body including drip rails...
Thanks very much guys. I've put sound deadener in my Camaro along the entire floor and trunk divider and it made a difference. I REALLY like quiet interiors and wondering if shaving the drip rails would help out as well.
Although I can't work on my truck for possibly another year, just before I left Blue'72 welded up all the holes in my floor so that when I get back I'll be able to really soundproof it. I want to make it as quiet as possible. Please keep 'em coming. |

Has anyone thought of line-xing the interior of their cab? I had a 72 blazer with out a top and I used the rool on stuff with a little carpet and it made a big difference. I know that sounds wierd with out a top but it was a lot quieter.

I thought about doing the entire underside of the truck instead of the inside. I'm not building a show truck so that should help repell all the nasties from the road too.. |
