Guys with lifts....

what do you use to stand on when working on/in the engine? I'm thinking of building some sort of platform that will wrap around the front of the blazer to the wheel wells on either side. I have a 6" lift with 35"s and trying to get to the plugs/dizzy is tough to say the least. Any suggestions or ideas? What do yall use?

Curbs and my tires, mostly. Inside the rims sometimes and I break out the trusty step stool every now and then.

6 + 35's here too

Step stool or I just climb up and sit on the radiator support. I've thought about getting some of those steps that go over the wheel or one of the license plate frames that flips down into a step (in case I need to work on it when I'm not near the step stool)

I don't mind sitting on the rad support but becarefull about letting your friends do it cuz they might "accidentally" kick your radiator (cough cough...Critter:fry: )

Yeppers, as long as the bead does not break it won't hurt them for a few
hours, I wouldn't leave it like that overnight, done it for years both in the
past rigs and with the newer one, it actually works pretty good, JMHO ;)

That's called "building character". Everything looked WAY too new under the hood so I customized it a little. My solution is to have a 6 inch lift but put little tiny tires on it!

i think i'll just build something. btw...you two would be glad to hear i just took it around the hood safari style for about 20 minutes and left it running for another 20. she's starting faster but doesn't wanna stay running until i lean on the gas for a while for her to warm up. still smoking and backfiring though. i haven't had the time to do the plugs just yet but they're next.

The tire or radiator support. Of course there is nothing like slipping of a 37 and your gut catching you on the fender, really wakes you up.

I have used a hay bale before, really worked well. Presently I have a few strategically placed cinder blocks that I stand on. I have two stacked up in front of the vehicle and one on each side of the vehicle. Sure makes life easier.

The last truck we had, my husband made it a flip front end. Which was so nice...just sit on the front tire. He's trying to convience me to let him do my Blazer like this too. But for now we just have a homemade little metal table to stand on or get up in the engine compartment & sit on top of the front fender.

Well, here's how I went around not being able to reach the plugs from the top.....I don't have the inner fenders on right now so to change the plugs, I went in under the fender between the tire and fender and changed them from there. It was pretty easy.

I just built a bench like carpenters use.I can move it to the sides or out front.I have put it on it`s rotors (on 2x blocks) when installing an engine and putting alot of time under the hood.

Hopefully letting the air out of thoes huge tires will get you low enough...if not take the tires off and use two floor jacks to roll it out nice and slow hahahaa

Oh and I use a milk crate and a step stool or my winch bumper to stand on..
