Driver's side door will not close right...
In order to close the door, I need to kinda push up and slam it...and I can't even open it from the inside. The PO said it needed hinge pins and my brother thinks I should change out the bushings....any ideas or suggestions?

Don't forget to check the body bushings too.

Change the hinge pins and bushings first. Mine were hard to get out so I had to heat them with a torch first and they pressed right out and then back in with the new ones. If that does not work then check your body bushings.

Re: Driver's side door will not close right...
Body mounts and hinges are common wear points that could be causing the door issues.
If the door drops when it is open or is rubbing on the door sill I'd start by checking the hinges. If the gaps on the door are wider at the bottom than the top of the door is harder to open when parked on a slight angle, I'd start by checking the body mounts. It could be a combo of both. If the hinges are fine, make sure you keep them well lubed. Same goes for the hood hinges. Both will work much better with a little maintanence. |
