87 Silverado Rear Main Seal??
Picked up an '87 Chevy from my mom-in-law who had it just sitting for a few years. I've started cleaning and got it running, but it needs some love. First thing, though, is a BAD oil leak coming from the hole in the flywheel cover.
I'm thinking it's the rear main seal and want to know if I should try this myself. Are there any special tools required, or do I just pull the driveshaft & transmission, then access it from the back? Any guidance will help! |

:welcome2: to the board from South Texas. Try posting you're question in the engine forum to get some better info. Or, maybe a Mod could move it there for you.

Welcome to the board from a fellow Texan. Your headed in the right direction in pullin the tranny and driveshaft. It will allow you to access the flywheel and the rear of the oil pan to get to the rear main seal.
