Are you SURE????

Gents-
I was informed not to use the 3/4 ton frame mount for the panhard bar when putting in a 1/2 rear-end. But....if the panhard is adjustable, wouldn't it work fine??? The same ones who said not to use it also said that the mounts bolted up the same. This is not the case at all. I spent 2 hours tonight removing the Cherry rivets from the donor 1/2 ton mount that is not in very good shape. Is anyone SURE that the 3/4 frame mount will not work just fine as long as I adjust the panhard to track true on the road??? I'm not lowering or anything, just trying to convert to a usable gear. Any advice would be appreciated. It will save hours of heartache if I can use the existing mount. Thanks in advance for any response!

I talked to an old hot rodder today. He said as long as the bar is sits parallel or close to it when the truck is sitting on it's own weight it would be fine. I intend to try it first before I go to the headache of switching mounts. I was just hoping that someone on the board would have travelled this path. Seems unlikely that no one has run in to this dilemna.

I have a customer that used a 3/4 ton pan hard bar in his 1/2 ton truck. He also used a 3/4 ton rear end. He had to cut the pan hard bar and shorten it. (he is kind of a hack) The 3/4 ton is longer than the 1/2 ton bar, but I think that it is because of the location of the stud on the rear end. Not possitive though. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com
