GM Parts Availability

Is there a list anywhere of all of the factory GM parts that are still available through the dealer for our K5s? How many of these parts still being produced through GM in some way, or are most just NOS that is still in a warehouse somewhere? I am mainly wondering about big stuff like grills, sheet metal, interior pieces...etc. I'm not so much worried about buying a NOS u-joint or anything like that.

Most of the parts of a Blazer/Jimmy are available from the Trucks as they perfectly interchange. NOS is somewhat more difficult to find as most of that stuff is either gone or stashed. Might look on e-bay. In many cases, our board vendors supply high quality after market parts that are near equal to the NOS stuff. Grills, trim, fenders, bumpers, interior seat covers, are all pretty good. Doors are an exception as they still have a long way to go. As far as GM production--first off they didn't actually produce a lot of the parts but subed them out to manufacturers. I don't know of anything that they are still actively buying and selling for our vintage. You can go to some dealers who will supply you with 67-72 Gm truck/blazer parts but they are aftermarket. Biggest unavailable stuff is bed floors, B pillars, blazer rear quarters, windshield frames, and stupid little stuff like the rear seat floor clamps, tow hooks, carpet trim~~~.
If you make a list of what you need, I'm sure the board will help you find them. Huck

I guess this is what I was trying to ask originally, I just didn’t word my question properly. Are these parts actually made by GM or are they outsourced through another vender (sounds like this is the case). If they are outsourced, are they the exact same as something you can get from an independent distributor like the ones here on the board?

If you put in chevy, truck, 72, and body components, then look down the page you will see inner fenders, rocker panels, chrome mirrors, etc…

So what about the stuff they list as OEM or NOS? What do the board vendors have to say about this? Is this just old stuff that has been laying around unopened for 30 years? Or is it stuff gm has licesened for other to make and sell as oem quality? Also where is all the sheet metal and grille stuff made at today? Is it all overseas junk? Can I buy american made parts for it?

GMC is the OEM. I'll see if I can find the phone number again
Classic Ind. lists their parts as GM Restoration Parts. Tabco is American made, Ohio. Can't answer the rest...

I've been using Goodmark on all of the sheet metal so far, bought the last rocker panel from Tabco. Metal is heavier, and it seems to fit quite well. No issues, so for strength alone, I'd go with Tabco.....jmho
