TH350 -vs- TH400 Tranny
Can someone give me the pros and cons of each. Currently have a TH350 in my 69 SWB, but have a couple 400's laying around and was wondering what that would give me.

Re: TH350 -vs- TH400 Tranny
Strength mainly IMO The 400 is a stronger tranny. I have a pro's and cons link somewhere, I will try and find it for you. quicker than trying to type like a chicken.

Re: TH350 -vs- TH400 Tranny
TH400 has more drag than the th350,thus creating more heat. It is the strongest of the two. But the th350 is by far no slouch. If you have it, use it. JMO

Re: TH350 -vs- TH400 Tranny
So would you use it if you were going to do a lot of towing/hauling or had a bigger motor? Any gas mileage savings?

Re: TH350 -vs- TH400 Tranny
No fuel mileage savings with a TH400, but if you're doing a lot of towing, it will live longer under the strain.
If it's performance you're after, then a TH350 can be built as a high perf tranny. But personally, if you're going to rebuild one or the other, then rebuild the TH400 and sleep well every night. |
