Schrader Valves
I've been toying with the idea of putting bags in the rear of my truck; I couldn't afford a complete setup so I'd have to use schrader valves as a means of inflating. Is it a bad idea to run a setup like this temporarily? Thanks for the help; I'm not well versed in the ways of bags.

I ran 2 schrader valves on my 68 for almost 2yrs.
The only problem I had was occasionally when I tried to air the bags up in the wee morning hours (in the dark ;) ), I would bend the valve & it wouldn't let me put air in. It didn't happen a lot, but it was inconvenient when it did. I started keeping a few extra valves just in case. Once I started using my trailer more often, I went ahead & got a comp & tanks to make life easier. I also always kept a 5gal portable air tank as an emergency air source..... but never needed it. |

I am not sure if it was a factory option or if the PO made it, but my FIL had air shocks on his 69 El Camino that had Schrader valves that mounted right under the tailgate. He said it was great to have because, whenever he had to carry a load in the "caruck", he would roll into a gas station and put air into the shocks to put it back to stock height. I would assume that you would be able to do the same thing with bags as long as you kept the bags independent.

Thanks for the replies. I was looking at bags and suicidedoors. Are the Slam Specialties better than the Firestones or any others. I see that they are a little more expensive, but I don't really know the difference between them all. Thanks again!

I'm gonna run Slams & manual valves (Kinda half on the cheap)
I will run 6 valves (from the hardware store) one tank, & the front bag brackets from suicide doors I already have the tank, some left over air-line, & maybe a couple of the valves I plan to build my rear brackets, so that is just less money i have to spend I think I should have around $450 in that setup, so it's not too bad $$$ wise Aslo, I bagged a little trailer with 2 valves, a air-tank (just like one from wal-mart) & some firestone bags The 6 valves go in this order: One valve per bag, with one in between the 2 to keep the air from going side to side 1st valve is air inlet, which T's off to the 2nd valve, which T's to the 3rd valve So lets say you want to air the front up, you open up one & two and to dump the front you open 2 & 3 I also plan to run pressure 2 regulators (one for front, one for rear) Hope this helps, & doesn't confuse |

imho when you decide to complete the system go with 8 valves...saving cash at the expense of safety doesn't work.BTW I use shraeders on the helper springs on my welding rig and they work out great.I ran them out the back bumper so they double as the license plate mount.
