Re: tranny sound
Where there any metal particles in the fluid? What did the fluid look like? Is your transfercase not completely in gear?
|
Re: tranny sound
I'm no tranny expert, But it soumds like your planetary gears in your transmission are shot. rebuild time!

Re: tranny sound
well it's very hard to know..
but i would suggest a fluid & filter change and remove the inspection cover and look for a mouse nest or something rubbing the converter, or possible loose converter to flex plate bolts. it could be the pump. hows the fluid look? hope this helps mark:metal: |

Re: tranny sound help
I'd guess that something may have tanked in the transmission. My guess would be you've got something broken inside there. I had a similar problem on my '69. It turned out to be one of the bearings had basically exploded sending chucks throughout the case. The chucks got wedged between the planitary gears and the case and damaged a whole bunch more internals and cracked the case.

Re: tranny sound help
theres quite a few things it could be as mentioned. the planetarys can chew up the roller bearings. the pump can make that noise the sprags can make that noise. theres a couple torrington bearings that could also make that noise if they started to come apart.to find the answer to your question will probably require a complete teardown to locate the bad part and a rebuild
