body lift questions

When innstalling a body lift on our trucks, what have you guys done with the gas tank? I've seen alot of trucks with the gas tank hanging below the rockers And don't want that...

also, who makes the most complete kit that comes with everything like filler neck extension, steering saft extension and front and rear bumper brackets?

I SUPOSE IT IS A CHEVY,YOU CAN MOVE THE TANK UP.BUT YOU HAVE TO RE-DRILL THE BRACKETS.THAT'S NOT A BIG DEAL.CHECK WITH CHASSIS TECH ABOUT THE WHOLE KIT.:metal:

I would like to know about the steering extension too.My truck has a 3" body lift but the shaft sits at a funny angle and is pulling at the rag joint and it looks pretty scary, considering I had to put a new one on just to get it home!

Re: body lift questions

can't you cut the firewall and move the steering column downward to remove the angle?

I never thought of that,it would fix the angle but would it slide it down so it's not pulling on that rag joint?I had thought about getting that setup with 2 universal joints and eliminate thr rag joint altogether.

Re: body lift questions

For the steering, just remove the shaft from the rag joint and the bolt from the base of the column.
With it in a vise, just drill out the 2 plasitc nubs [only need to go down maybe an 1/8"] Then tap the pieces apart and after a couple taps, it will slide freely. Reinstall the shaft and when it's at the right length just drill the dimple all the way thru and install a steel or nylon bolt.

Gas tank is like stated above. Just drop the tank and move up the brackets and then reinstall the tank.
