tire and wheel package is 15x9 Progressive rims with 275/R5015 TA's, 2 cut coils in the front and Flip kit. She's all primered right now but thinking about a silver or pewter color in the future, looking at possibly getting some 18x9.5 Coy chrome C5's, just have to figure out the right BS.

is your rear roll pan fiberglass or steel?

Re: Low83 Pics II

First of all, that's a badass truck! I love it!

Second, do you have any issues with driveability with your truck being so low? Tires bottoming out on the fenders, rubbing on the fender lip, etc?

Looks awsome, whats up with the mirrors?

Malo83 04-16-2007 05:31 PM

Re: Low83 Pics II

Thanks Guys:)
Rc 415 I have the mirrors running up and down, they look sleeker than having them sideways(just being different)
Neverfinished, it's a steel roll pan, got it from Sir Micheals
Xtreme80, there are no issues with tire rub, i've only bottomed out once when I ran into a dip in the road at high speed (Ouch!!!):( but i,ve carried a load of rocks in the back once and it rode on the axle all the way home, and it took me forever to get home going super slow
Rc 415 thanks for the advice on posting my pics, think I got it down now:o

Man if you don't stop posting pics

Of that awesome truck....

You are going to talk me into buying a drop kit and some 275's. I want another set of tires and wheels anyways but now I know I want 275's or close to it, maybe wider.

You keep it up and I'm gonna have to drop our 84 that low stance looks nice, without being on the pavement and tucking 22's or bigger. I'm sorry but I hate the huge rim look, and scraping pavment is fine if you are paked or rolling, but I couldn't stand it that low all the time. I like it low, like yours, but still functional.

These trucks look so good in primer, no wonder people leave em that way for so long, lol

Re: Low83 Pics II

Hey I was wondering if the primer is a rattlecan job?

 , no the reason the primer looks all spotted is from my touching up scratches with the rattlecans, could never find the right primer that would match.

Nice truck!!

Re: Low83 Pics II

What kind of paint/primer is it?

benoit454 04-29-2007 09:31 PM

Re: Low83 Pics II

I hope you guys used self etch or epoxy, or didn't have bare metal spots when you primered them. I had bare metal on my monte and left it in regualr primer from a spray gun for awhile and it rusted under the primer and started showing through.

Super nice truck! That is how I want mine to sit. I see you cut two coils on the front and an axle flip. What you did should be about a 4 / 5 drop right? With cutting two coils the truck doesnt have a mushy, floating feel to it? How does the front feel when cornering and braking?

Again, I love it!

Malo83 04-30-2007 01:14 AM

Re: Low83 Pics II

Had the truck sprayed with a Primer Sealer 3yrs ago. Bought the truck New and had it dropped a month later and she's been sitting this way since, read a lot of posts of people saying not to cut the coils or it'll mess up the ride but I haven't had any problems with it, back then this was the only way to go Low. Today is different, so if I had to do it all over again I would have went with Spindles, coils and or Tubular A-arms:cool:
John, Thanks Guys

Man, I love the stance on your truck. Looks killer. :metal:

Re: Low83 Pics II

I forgot to ask man did you notch the frame out back or left it alone??

I too just freaking love that stance, makes me want to buy a flip kit and then just cut 2 coils off the front.

You did the axle flip kit right? Where you had to put the springs under the axle?

Simply gorgeous, love those wheels and stance. Very aggressive, looks mean. Beefy tires, love it...

And congrats on your team's new QB... maybe things will turn around for Oakland (but hopefully not enough to offset the Patriots' quest for #4 :D).

Re: Low83 Pics II

benoit454, yeah it has a Flip Kit in the back without notching the frame, it's my DD and i've had no problems with the back end bottoming out, except when I had a load of rocks in the back, and another time when I picked up a pallet of ceramic tiles, then people were walking faster than I was driving:lol:

KMK454, Thanks, yeah we'll see if JR can get us back to the promised land:rolleyes:
and hope you have better luck with Candy Moss the guy is a :whine:

Re: Low83 Pics II

malo83 is your front end bouncy at all because of the cut coils? i cut one coil off on my 84 and it rides fine but i want to cut another off and am worried about riding on the bump stops. Do you know how far your upper control arm is from the bump stop?

Cherub 02-12-2009 04:38 PM

Re: Low83 Pics II

The more you cut the coils the more you lessen the spring rate.....so be carefull u may end up with ride you dont like
