ring gear replacement?

i dont know if this is done anymore, but id like to keep my original flywheel and have a new ring gear pressed on. im trying to avoid the cost of an oem flywheel and i dont like the idea of one from china.
my 2nd question is; is there a different flywheel for a 11" clutch and a 12" clutch. ive searched ebay and i havent seen anyone mention a 12" clutch flywheel.
im working on a 1982 one ton utility bed 2 wheel drive with a 350cid and a 4 speed that needs a clutch. does anyone know of a place in socal where i can get just a ring gear?

Re: ring gear replacement?

I think I actually seen on autozone's website where they have the ring gear itself listed.

I have an old 168 tooth flywheel from my 76 that had an 11 inch clutch on it, but can be used with a 12 inch. I've seen some in northern auto that accept a 12 inch clutch.

As far as japan ones, why worry about it? I mean alot of ppl use them and don't care, some might, some might not. I mean I like to buy good old USA stuff, but sometimes it's too expensive and just a waste because the foreign crap lasts just as long and works just as good. Some stuff might even be foreign crap anyways and ppl never know it.

Maybe check northern auto parts and autozone though for the ring gear and/or flywheel.
