Links
Can someone explain in detail how to link an internet page to one one of our threads. I sometimes see guys asking questions and I know of a site that they can go to for answers and I'd like to know how to link the site page to our threads.

Re: Links
Quite simple.
In the quick reply mode, or the advance mode, it is the same essentially. There is a little globe with a chain link: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/i...createlink.gif You click that and it asks for the URL of the link you want to supply. Like if I want to point you to NHRA.com, I click it, and supply http://www.nhra.com, creating this : http://www.nhra.com Now, inside of that, You can change what is inside what it gives you to show different text. In the example above, you see the full URL, but I can make it say whatever I want by modifying it a bit: Click Here to go to NHRA's Website The easiest way for you to see what I have done is to quote this message and just look at it. But, essential, this is just BB Code. It starts with ["url"=] and that's where you put your url (after the = sign). Then before the closing bracket, which is [/"url"] That's the text that shows up in between. (No quotes in real situation). DLB |
Re: Links
Also, I just noticed, mine is "Automatically parsing URL's."
What that means is if I typed in a full address from http to .com it automatically makes it a link - it adds the ["url"][/"url"] tags (minus quotes) for me. This may be a per user setting, not sure. Just try it and see if it does it for you? DLB |
Re: Links
I just re-read what you asked, and I may have went into too much detail for what you asked...
If you just want the link to an individual thread of ours, and don't need any of that junk I just posted...just copy the url from the address bar. Or, without being in the thread, just right click on the title, copy shortcut, copy link location, or whatever your browser says for copying links. :dohh: :dohh: DLB |
Re: Links
If you wanted something like this- http://gmcpauls.com/roll_pans1.htm
just go to the page you want, right click, select "properties" copy the address url and paste it into your reply. If you want to change the way it reads like this- Rollpans the easiest way I know to do it is paste the link and click "preview post" so the system will automatically add the url tags. It'll look like this {url}http://gmcpauls.com/roll_pans1.htm{/url} change it so it looks like this {url=http://gmcpauls.com/roll_pans1.htm}Rollpans{/url} replace{} with[] There are several ways to do the same thing, it just depends on what's easiest for you. |

Re: Links
I'm still learning some of the ins and outs of this site. It just takes practice. Glad you figured it out.

Re: Links
computers can be confusing but just dont let it beat you:lol:
you can right click on the address in the menu bar and click on copy then in your reply right click again and click paste and there it is, just another way of doing it |
