66 3/4 ton 4wd suspension/brakes question
My buddy has a '66 3/4 ton 4wd longbed. He is having problems with the brakes. The manual said that he needs a special tool to remove the rear drum assembly because the hubs are integrated. The manual calls for Chevy removal tool J-2222. He also isn't sure if he has 5,200 lb. or 7,200 lb. axles.
Does anyone know if he needs this tool, where to get it or which axles he has? Any advice? before he tears it apart? |
Re: 66 3/4 ton 4wd suspension/brakes question
My 66 GMC has a Dana 60. I use an impact screwdriver to take 2 screws out that retain the drum, then back the shoes off and remove the drum.
What axle does it have? |

If the hub and drum are integral, they may be taking about the hub socket to disassemble the wheel bearings.

He may need a spindle nut socket, as mentioned above, available at parts stores or Snap-on etc.
