Steering box lube?

I've got a '62 manual steering gear box, what lube do I use in it, grease, or gear oil?

I just had the one on my 61 4x4 rebuilt, it was filled with grease when I got it back.

Folks, before I converted to power steering I filled my manual steering box with STP. It was thick enough to not leak and not so thick that it was hard to steer. Just one man's opinion.

Gear lube will leak right past the seal. A moly base chassis lube works, just stick the grease gun hose into the hole and fill it up. Chassis lube was a GM recommended substitute in the 60's.
