my cheap and easy tach
3 Attachment(s)
i took my idiot light dash, cut 2 holes for a oil pressure, and temp gauge, and today i added a tach. i was looking for something in the shop and found it.nothing special but it serves its purpose.if you wondering. i took the lense and cut the turn signal and warning lights part out, then i took the black backing plate and cut the same out of it.

Re: my cheap and easy tach
I have that same sunpro tach
|
Re: my cheap and easy tach
I am trying to do mine the same way with a older Sun tach that maxes at 5000 rpm. I can not get it to work right though. When I hook it up the needle jumps all over the place. It has a sticker on the back that says "use with model EB or WPA series transmitters" and it is a model ST-505. Anybody got any ideas about this?

Re: my cheap and easy tach
Someone unfamiliar with our truck would assume that is factory. You did a great job on the install- it looks good!

Good job, looks familiar..... :D
If I ever get enough time, the rest of the dash will be white face as well. |

I put a similar tach in my dash. I pulled the guts out and just used that.
I also added a "Quartz" clock out of a mid 80s Sub in the open hole to the right of the steering column. I'm still amazed how accurate that clock is. Other than for daylight savings I never have to adjust it. |
Re: my cheap and easy tach
sweet all i did with mine was plug it in and wedge it under my dash pad
|
Re: my cheap and easy tach
Man, that looks great.
I need to do a "cheap" tach in mine when I redo the dash. |
