1500 pounds? I find that hard to believe.
It would be sweet on a 68. |

I think I saw that on craigslist locally. Snohomish is close by. I am going to put a camper on my Longhorn but intend to go for the "Brochure" model with paint strip to match. A Silverstreak would be hard to pass up however.
Most of the old wood frame/aluminum units pictured below is that they leaked and probably were not good for much more than about 10 years of use. BTW...I flatly refuse to drill holes in my doors for those "fugly" monster mirrors so will mount them to the camper instead. |
Re: matching camper for a '68
Silver Streak camper. those who would like info can PM or call me. I have done alot of research on this company. I currently own a 28' trailer which I plan on customizing the interior. This camper is extremly rare, the founders of this company left Airstream in the early sixties and went to build trailers mostly, some motorhomes and the odd camper. They are built with aircraft technology and will never rot. 1500 lbs is probably loaded. The frame and the outside walls are made of adonized aluminum. For those who want to go the extra "mile" for your longhorn, Chevy and (uhg-ford) were in the camper manufacturing business during the years of the longhorn. They stopped building them when the oil glut in the early 70's ( the first oil glut).

I know that is the one I saw on craigslist and thought it was pretty cool. I have seen several of the Silver Streak trailers around...they look nice. Were they better than the Airstreams?
