Is this a good compressor??

I am looking at the Kobalt 80 gal single stage compressor, current price is $794.00. Does anyone have any experience with this, and does it do what it says on the sticker. I use air grinders and sanders and my craftsman 25 gal, runs out of air and I have to wait for it to recharge. Any input would be helpful. I would even consider buying used if I knew where to look.

Bob, do you know the specs on it?...CFM's are the most important consideration. You are going to be using some pretty air demanding stuff it sounds like. The tank size is important, but if the pump can't keep up with demand, you will still have to wait for it to catch up. If it is 15 CFM or more, then you should be alright. Now you could plumb it in right along with your crapsman if the price is right, that would give you lots of air on demand, but it has to be set up just right so they work right together.

Compressors are one of those things that you can never seem to afford the one you really need (that could just be me though;) )

I think that may be a little expensive for a single stage compressor. 60 gallon 2 cylinder single stages (which is what I have) can be had for less than $500 usually, and less than $400 on sales. Fathers Day is coming up, so watch the ads.

Two stage compressors are much more expensive, and frankly, unless you do a lot of body work or sand blasting, are not needed for the home garage.
