junkyard find

a buddy of mine called me today to tell me about a SWAT team box van in my local wrecking yard. i went out there this afternoon and pulled the tach cluster and wire harness. it also has the air pressure guage but i have another cluster with a factory clock that i'm going to try and swap in. all the needle's are really bright as no sun ever got to them. i only paid 20 bucks for the cluster and harness, i thought i got a good deal. it's a gas tach too not a diesel, the van had a 454 in it and it's a 5 grand tach.

air gauge

the air gauges bolt to the plastic housing from the inside. there are little towers made into the plastic. nearly every option of different gauge combos had a diferent housing.

Jerry you need to know what year that dash is if you are going to advertise it correctly. a mis matched dash can cause a wiring meltdown. Mechanical or electric oil pressure? amp or volt gauge? , DAVE

Dave,
i'm not planning on selling anything other than the air pressure guage but i'll definitly try to find the year of the box van. i'd like to put the tach in my 79 blazer along with the clock. my nephew just put a tach cluster in his 76 burb and all he did was swap position with the wires in the plug to match the new printed circuit and everything works great.

tach

yep that wire swapping is possible but not something I tell people about because of the tracing that is necessary and reading of schematics and he also got lucky because if his blazer had been one year OLDER and had an amp gauge that would not have worked. Not something I recommend to amatuers either. your OK as long as you understand the wiring part and the AMP VS. VOLT gauge thing , DAVE

brain not work right sometime ,BEEEEEEEEEEEER
