Parts Book

I am doing a frame off restoration on my 68 Chevrolet ½ Ton and would like to know where I can obtain a copy of the Parts Book, which list the original part numbers for each part used on the 1967-197 trucks. I have the 1968 Chassis Service Manual and the Factory Assembly Manual, which gives the category numbers, but not the individual part numbers.

I am recording the individual part numbers on each item as I remove and re-finish. I have also verified my Motor, Tranny and Rear End from my Protect-O-Plate.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Larry Hull

I'm not sure on your specific request - but if you don't have an LMC catalog - they are about as good a parts book as you can find. (I haven't ever bought anything from the company personally though).

Sir:

The place you want is:

FAXON Auto Literature
3901 Carter St.
Riverside, California, 92501

Ph 951-786-4177

I have been to their place. They have one of the largest private automotive libraries I have ever seen. Their literature holdings are larger than some public libraries. They specialize in selling used original automotive books, which includes parts books, service manuals, original sales brochures, owners manuals, and so on. They do most of their business over the telephone. I know they have original GM factory parts books for 1967-1972 Chevy trucks, because I bought one from them myself. When I bought mine from them a few years ago, I went over there in person. They let me browse their library. They had 3 or 4 copies of the original GM 1967-1972 truck parts books back then. Hope this helps. --Bruce

Re: Parts Book

GM (dealers) had a MASTER PARTS CATALOG which listed parts available for variour vehicles at specific times. I believe there was one for trucks published about 1973. A newer one was printed early 80's(?). These did not list every part number but what parts were still available at that time. I purchased 1 from Evil-bay that covered 40 series trucks and up(my mistake).

Post a WTB and search E-bay for the publication.
