Is the correct RH Trunnion reproduced for 73-74 tailgates?

Hey everyone quick question.

I have a 74 K20 and I realized this weekend, when trying to remove the tailgate, that the RH trunnion is the style that is perfectly round, meaning the only way to remove the tailgate is to remove the trunnion as well (total PITA)

I bought a set (I thought) from LMC truck for my 73-74 but they're both round as well. LMC lists only one part number for both sides for my truck, but different numbers for the others.

My tailgate has the provision for the "elongated" style trunnion on the RH side which would make it much easier to remove, but when searching on ebay the only "elongated" style I see says it's only for 81-87. I found it here

Is the correct elongated trunnion reproduced for my year?

Thanks!

Both are round on my 73, they have to be removed to remove the TG.

I don't think they offered that feature until the 80's. I had a 79 that the gate could not be removed with unbolting it.

Interesting. Well, my tail-gate has the section in the lower RH corner to remove the gate if it had an elongated trunnion. Any reason why the later model one wouldn't work? Very strange they would have the provision w/o offering the matching trunnion. hm?

Hmm. My 79 SB has the quick release gate. I'll have to look at my other 79 to see what it has. I know you can (or could a few years ago) get the elongated trunnion, because I got a new one from GM.

I have three beds, 74/82 and 86?. All have removable gates, All have the same trunnion bolt pattern and all gates interchange between these beds. The only difference I seen is the latch Assembly's, They are slightly different but still interchange between these different year gates/beds.

73-74 didn't have the removable trunions. It started as an OPTION in 1975, I thought it was pretty much standard by 1976, it may have been optional though.

My grandfathers '74 he bought new didn't have it, my fathers 75 that he bought new had it, best friends '75 has it , a '76 I scrapped which I still have the gate for had it, another friends '78 has it.
