Does Anyone Know If You Can Fit A Sub Box Under The Bench Seat Of A 67-72 Chevrolet Truck?
|
Re: subwoofer box
It depends on the size of woofer you want to use. I have seen it done though. i will try to find the pics.

Re: subwoofer box
I have one under each side and an amp in the middle. The boxes are 14" wide by 14" long and 5" tall if I remember right. I got some 10" subs in there. I got some cheap Pyramid speakers Not good enough for a competition but gets some bumps in the ride :)

Not mine so don't ask dimensions. I know space is really tight but it can obviously be done. I built a little one for under the bench seat on one side. It fit but didn't sound good b/c it didn't have enough volume and the fried amp barely powered it.

Re: subwoofer box
Forgot to add that you will lose the seat adjuster.
|
Re: subwoofer box
Not that you could adjust them much anyway with a stock gas tank. lol
|
Re: subwoofer box
i plan to put the speakers and whatnot in place of the tank when i finally move it, ive 4 1/2 in each door and 2 6x9 speakers each in a box and sitting on the floor board in the middle (bucket seats) and theres plenty of power and bass with great sound, not exactly what you were asking about but maybe it can help you decide on speakers

Re: subwoofer box
does anyone know where I could get one made to fit for two 8" Kicker Solobaric L7's., to fit under the bench seat. Desperate!!!
|
Re: subwoofer box
My suggestion with the Solobarics, get bench seats.
Solobarics need alot on air space in the box or they will sound like crap, A skinny box will do them no good...... |
Re: subwoofer box
did you mean bucket seats? I thought about the kicker 8" round also just need to find someone to make the box. Thanks for the info

Re: subwoofer box
For mounting a subwoofer underneath the bench seat you could look at some of the new "shallow mount" sub's. I believe Rockford Fosgate makes a new P3 like this. So do a few other companies.

I have a bench seat

Re: subwoofer box
I think shallow mount subs are the best option in this case. Many are designed with this exact mounting situation in mind.
If you're going to remove the tank eventually, why don't you just save up and put a nice box behind the seat? |
Re: subwoofer box
My three favorite things to do in this world are as follows: 1.) Drive these old trucks, 2.) Work on these old trucks, 3.) Car audio.

Nice find! I built that box which is currently still under my seat. Each 10" sub has exactly 1.0 cube as well as polyfil. Someone wanted to buy it a while back... if they are no longer interested, I'd be willing to sell it. |
Re: subwoofer box
check under the shallow mount sub threat for pictures of 12" PIONEER box under my seat. Amp and sub for around 200.00 and sounds great.

Re: subwoofer box
I built a sub/speaker enclosure for underneath my bench seat. It is the full width 42", 11" deep, and is 7.5" tall in front tapered down to 6.5" in the rear. The box is sealed and is internally sectioned off. I have 2 6"x9" speakers mounted in front and a 10" sub mounted on top. As mentioned before I have no seat adjustment but I don't need it. I'll take some pics if you want and I can scan the plans. I built the box myself in woodshop for about $10.00 but If you had it built at a shop it would be a couple of $100 bills.

Re: subwoofer box
My box is still up for grabs.
I plan on making a business out of making them (as well as a few other custom audio products) in the near future. |
