Sport Bumper Install
I have my new sport bumper ready to install on my truck. Everything is new including the brackets and I have one question for you guys that have done this install before. Should I bolt the brackets to the bumper then attach to the truck frame or should I attach the brackets to the frame first and then attach the bumper to the brackets.

Re: Sport Bumper Install
I would attach the two upper brackets to the bumperfirst and bolt the outer two brackets last and leave them on the truck.

Re: Sport Bumper Install
I put the brackets on the frame and then sat on the ground with my legs under the truck and bumper on my lap and held up the new bumper securing the bolts.

Re: Sport Bumper Install
DON'T over tighten the bumper bolts. You could warp the bumper.

They look like this. Although LMC has different versions of them as far as the license plate area cutout.

Re: Sport Bumper Install
I have the step bumper on my truck now, do you need to buy different brackets for it to fit?

Re: Sport Bumper Install
b4 installing new bumpers i always coat the back of them with POR15 for protection and longevity

Re: Sport Bumper Install
Most sport bumpers come with a torque value to use on the bolts that go thru the bumper. If you exceed that TV the chrome can crack and the bumper will rust and warranty will not cover it.
To install,I find it easier to put everything together with bolts just hand snug and tighten as I adjust. |
