How do you think this burb will do as a tow rig?

My 97 Tahoe is just to short to pull my heavy trailer, so I bought the yellow 72 4x4 to do the work. But it was a little rough for my taste so I bought the blue one. It is a 72, BB, tilt/tach, front and rear air with a ¾ ton rear end.

One of the previous owners was a racer and used it to haul/push his drag car so I am hoping the engine is a hoss. I don’t think the engine is the original 402. I hope it is a 454 or a 427, but I have not had time to confirm it.

Anyway I just wanted to see if any of ya’ll have used these burbs to haul with. I think it would be cool to use it haul my project to shows/ events, but I also need it to haul my junk trucks around.

What kind of towing are you doing? I use the wife's 95 Yukon 4wd to drag just about anything and haven't had much trouble. I also had a 93 Burb but I like the Yukon over the Burb as far as dragging trailers.

Although the Burb should do the job. It looks like the front is still half ton. You might want to look at getting the larger 3/4 ton front to match the rear for better braking.

Just my 2 cents. Lots of decent looking trucks there in that yard as well

SWEET! I wish it was mine to tow with. The longer wheelbase makes highway towing nice. Looks pretty rust free :)

I agree on the front end though - take a 3/4 ton front crossmember and shove it in there for the bigger brakes. You should have a couple in stock right?

Thanks, I love the fact that it is mostly original paint and that the primer is showing through.I need to finish compounding it and wax it and I think I will paint the roof white with a touch of flat so it won't look brand new.

That's not a bad idea about the frontend. I think I should have the parts around here somewhere.

The burb also came with a parts burb that is pretty nice and full of extra parts

Man I'd take the "parts burb"

you guys down/west are lucky to find such clean sheetmetal. I think I need to take a road trip with a 3 car hauler or something. :)

Should be a great tow vehicle, just be sure the brake system is up to the task.
