Buddy of mine went and looked at a burb Friday. It was supposed to be a red with white top 3/4 ton, and the guy wanted 2500 bucks for it. He checked it out....Ocra and white, 3/4 ton, front and rear air, big block, automatic. Overall not horrible just not what he was hoping for. The guy did come down to 1700 though.

My friend said I should go look at it even though Im not in the market for ANYTHING. I checked it out and it really didnt do anything for me either, but I did like the fact it was a big block and set up for towing. My poor K10 really doesn't like towing the loads I'm forcing it to tow. He came down to 1500 for me. I told him I would think about it and call him back knowing I was 99% sure I was just going to call him and say no thanks.

I called him Saturday evening and told him no thanks and recommended he try Craigs list. Anything I could offer would just offend him anyway...Try me he says...so I did...and now Im the proud owner of another burb :crazy: Im gonna call her Ocra Winfrey.

Mark, I thought I saw that on craigslist a while back. I know that there has an ochre burb for sale on cl for a while...that may be why he was ready to deal! Good for you!

Da"Burb will be all over ya for that one.He seems to have a penchant for Ocra 'burbs.I don't know though I haven't seen him around much and last I knew he had 7 one for each day of the week.

He's never used Craigs list before. It was buried in the middle of a large ad in the Little Nickle. I have no idea how my friend stumbled across it.

Good thing it's in Washington or you wouldn't have had to force yourself to buy it. Looks like a nice burb in the pics. Yes,it's for a smog pump.

As long as you understand the color is Ochre (oak-er) and not Ocra (oak-ra?) and definitely not Okra (which i'll eat if you leave laying around). :haha:

2 possibilities for the bracket: A.I.R. [Air Induction Reactor] that pumped exhaust back into the intakes to get re-burned (!?) or did it pump fresh air into the exhausts to thin out the monoxide? It never worked anyway on my [originally] California L6 292. When I got to my first duty station in North Carolina, I GI-canned it.
Other possibility is a short-throw [Yorx-type] compressor for a second, rear passenger area, air conditioner. Sometimes done on those old 3-door suburbans.

I can't believe you got that for less than $1,500 - looks worth way more than that! Looks awfully rust free from here - is it?

It has rust...not horrible. Way less than my panel thats for sure. It is a complete truck and runs pretty decent. Needs a radiator. Passenger side door (front) is pretty wonky. I have plenty of spares though. I also have several 68 front clips...I may use one of them on it.

No big plans for fixing it up. Im giving my 71 k10 to my younger son (24) for the second time ( long story) as soon as he can show me he can insure it. Ill use the burb as a tow rig mostly....for now :rolleyes:

Paid 1200...possibly a little too much because its a 3/4 ton...but I have a complete 72 C10 burb with a nice chassis if I ever wanna switch it over.

I vote smog pump too. It was still on my truck when I started to tear it down. I wish I could find the pump for the restoration.

No you don't. They sucked. It was only for the 'dog&pony show' aspect of eco-politics that they were ever produced. They never had any appreciable environmental effect, but sure diminished performance. Unless you want to donate your pristinely restored truck to the Smithsonian, or the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry for a static display of ancient life in the mid- 20th Century, you don't want A.I.R. A good tune-up does more for saving the planet than that junk ever did.
