is there a differance between chevy and gmc beds
 

last week i had some guy come over and look at my 68..i told him about tit haveuing a chevy tailgate..but i had noticed when i bought the truck last yr somebody had filled in the holes where some trim had been at..how could i notice,,used bondo, and did a bad job smoothing it out..then painted it white...anyway..lookking at it closer, i think the whole bed is from a chevy truck..because the cab and front fenders have no trim hole...and since the inside cab paint and under the hood paint is the same color, i figure they are the original truck..now wether it has been wrecked or just rusted otu i dont know,,i wil have to go look at the frame today...but i think its just a bed swap..the lkeast they could have done was put in good wood for the floor..im through trying to sell the truck, so i need to know if i need to swap the bed out to a gmc one, or just the tail gate...thanks for any info

The beds are the same chevy vs gmc.The only thing different is the 67s didnt have side markers.The tailgates are different obviously either saying GMC or Chevrolet.I'd say the truck the bed came from had upper,lower or both trim on the sides and they filled in the holes.That's the way it was with my truck...mine also had the holes filled in around the tail lights where the chrome goes there.So,the beds are the same Chevy vs GMC,the location of holes drilled in the bed for trim,different depending on trim application.

I'm no expert but i have seen no differance in the two beds. We own a 68 gmc and it has the trim all the way around.

The beds are only different as far as trim levels, not GMC/Chevy.

thanks for the info..i ready talked to the junkyard guy i deal with for older parts wheni got the truck last year about trading for a gmc tailgate...other than the trashy bondo work, the bed seems in decent shape, will know more in a little while when i got look at it again..thats the bad thing,,i saw the truck fromt the street, stopped, looked under it, quick walk around and then made a deal forit..other than loading it on a trailer, puttign it in the storage lot, and taking pics of it, i havent really looked to closely at the truck...thank for all the info guys, i appreciate it alot.. thats what i love about this site,,all the helpful info and support you get here...this is why i support this site...
