tilt steering column conversion

I have a 1980 tilt steering column from a chevy van and want to put the tilt on my 1970 straight column. Can this be done or am I out of luck? Anyone with information please write back.

Re: tilt steering column conversion

You have to swap the entire column. You can't mix tilt and nontilt parts. IIRC, the van column swaps right in, except the van column is a little longer?
I haven't done a van column swap, myself, but I have swapped in a Cadillac tilt/telescope.

Had to adapt the PRNDL to the Cad column.
And massively rewire.
And new linkage.
And a custom mount.

Re: tilt steering column conversion

do a search on "van tilts" ... I know there have been several posts explaining step-by-step how to do this conversion and from what I remember, it's not difficult at all.

Good Luck.
