oil fill location? i swear im not retarded...
so uh, just went out to change the oil in my truck for the first time (just bought it a few weeks ago) and i cant figure out where to put the oil in. the passenger valve cover has a rectangular breather on the back of the cover a little smaller than my palm, and the driver side valve cover has a plug kinda with 2 tubes coming out, one going to the carb one to i think the air pump under the driver headlight. i can pull both out, and looked for the rockers and springs but couldnt see them. i think there aftermarket valve covers because they are chromed, but they are really really rusted and look really old. its a driver side oil dipstick. i took pictures if you guys think im nuts and ill post them if nobody knows. thanks.

Re: oil fill location? i swear im not retarded...
the plug with 2 tubes is your pcv valve
the reason you can't see anything through the holes is because they are probably baffled. If you pull the pcv valve out you can put the oil in there |
Re: oil fill location? i swear im not retarded...
suggested: use a funnel...:D

Re: oil fill location? i swear im not retarded...
ended up puttin the oil in the passenger side rear hole in the valve cover, all 5 quarts went in, so im assuming it was the right hole. my oil pressure guage doesnt work tho and neither does my temp guage so if it was the wrong hole....well im just gonna hope its the right hole

dont fret on it breh...just so long as it was going over/into the head, you dont have any probs! so needless to say, you dont have anything to fret, just get a different oil gauge and ur good.
