Re: ATTN: Yukon Jack
Any flex when you step up on them?
That's going to be alot of pressure put on the lower portion of the frame rail from the look of it. Do they tie into the vertical part or just the bottom/horizontal area? |
Re: ATTN: Yukon Jack
The don't really flex much and they are just bolted to that bottom lip. I dont think there is and down pressure at all on that lip. I would be more like pulling up on it. I am more worried about the two outside bolts. We put some large washers on them but am thinking they probably need some larger plates under the bolts to spread the force out a little more. Had thought about putting some 2" box along the top of that lip and may do it yet. I am just under a time thing right now, this week.
Those are designed to be bolted to the rocker and no way was I gonna do that. |

Re: ATTN: Yukon Jack
Thanks Mudder, my daughter bought me a pair, wasn't sure how to mount them up. That bracket looks like the answer. Is it bolted thru the top of the floor?
She wants to know why they aren't on my Jimmy yet, thinks I don't like them. Couldn't tell her I don't know how to mount them:) |
Re: ATTN: Yukon Jack
did you make those mounts for those steps?need something like that for my burb.

Re: ATTN: Yukon Jack
Me and daughters b/f made them the other night. They are bolted through the floor and used some big washers on the top of the floor to sorta spread the weight out on the floor. Some larger plates would probably be better. To make them really strong another pair of bolts middle wise would be nice also.

Re: ATTN: Yukon Jack
It's totally ok. I think it's good for others to have ideas or concerns when you fab something up. I usually give things pretty much thought before I do it and most of the time it can change a few time while doing it. I would have never mounted it the way the instructions says. I would have been replacing both rockers in no time.
